Sargent John Singer - American in the Luxembourg Gardens art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of American in the Luxembourg Gardens by John Singer Sargent for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1879 with the original painting now residing at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A twilight scene with a vast expanse of gravel which is tinted a mauve color by the setting sun, isolating a fashionably dressed couple walking arm in arm with the man smoking a cigarette. Other couples are in the garden doing various activities such as setting on the bench, reading newspapers or playing with a sailboat among other things. The Palais du Luxembourg had one of the largest parks on the left bank of Paris, newly laid out with formal gardens, fountains and sculptures. Famous artists print #131
