Bellotto, Bernardo - The Piazza della Signoria in Florence
A Museum Quality Print of The Piazza della Signoria in Florence by Bernardo Bellotto for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1742 with the original size being 61 by 90 centimeters. This is presumed to have been painted when the artist made a long study tour of Italy and painted views of many Italian towns including Verona, Turin and Florence. It is obvious the young painter had a good eye for details and accurate observation. On the right back corner is the fortress like Palazzo Vecchio with its slender tower which is the symbol of Florence. This is one of the most famous of all the town halls of Tuscany. On the right is the equally famous Liggia dei Lanzi. Many medieval and classic statues finish out the ornamentation of this ancient city. #218 Famous Artist Paintings
