A Museum Quality Print of The Music Building at James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia for sale by Brandywine General Store. Our premium archival artwrok shows a very nice view of the Music Building that has a bright blue sky above with a few clouds, the spring trees are all in full bloom and the large trees in the front and an oil painting effect all add up to make this a beautiful print. This 60,000 square foot building was completed in 1989 and is one of the newest buildings built in the JMU upper quad. The music building houses classrooms, faculty offices, a listening laboratory and studios for the music department, this has become one of the region's largest and most contemporary music instruction facilities. Because of the close proximity to the older buildings in the quad of JMU, the music building needed to retain the original design of blue limestone walls and red terra cotta roofing. Due to the absence of a local quarry for the blue limestone, this project was the 1st building constructed at JMU that did not use native bluestone limestone. Instead these rocks had to be trucked in from New York, but when here local stone masons were used for the final cuts and placements of the limestone rocks. The music building cost 6 Million dollars to build. Picture #166 an original scenic print by Brandywine General Store.
