Bruegel, Pieter the Elder - Sermon of St. John the Baptist Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of a Sermon of St. John the Baptist by Pieter Bruegel the Elder for sale by Brandywine General Store. This art work now hangs at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest with the original size being 37.4 by 62.2 inches. In this painting, Pieter Bruegel the Elder packs together a colorful group of figures so tightly as to almost obscure the earnest figure of Saint John the Baptist who is just left of the center. Among the diverse colorfully attired figures are a woman seated with an infant who is an Egyptian, the elaborate slashed pantaloons of the standing man on the right signify his Asian origins. The man with the fur trimmed hat bears a resemblance to a contemporary depiction of a Tartar. Among these peoples are also shown more recognizable nationalities such as from the Netherlands and surrounding areas. The artist completed this canvas in the year 1566. Religious art print #17
