Brueghel Pieter the Elder - Census at Bethlehem art print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of Census at Bethlehem painted by Flemish Renaissance artist Pieter Brueghel the Elder in 1566 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This was one of the first Western artworks to feature a snowy landscape and was painted right after the Winter of 1565, one of the harshest winters on record. Brueghel takes a Biblical scene and places it in a Flemish village, the pregnant Virgin Mary is seen riding a donkey with Joseph walking beside her. The citizens were all gathered for the census and paying of taxes as decreed by the Roman Emperor. Pieter Brueghel the Younger and his workshops made dozens of copies of this masterpiece after his father's death, which are also quite valuable with one recently selling for 10 million dollars. Picture #109 a religious art print made from an antique painting.
