Degas Edgar - Billard Room at Menil - Hubert Fine Art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Billiard Room at Menil - Hubert by Edgar Degas for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in 1892, the original art measures 19 by 26 inches in size and now hangs in the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. This room was painted in Normandy, France at Merril - Hubert on the country estate of Dega's childhood friend, Paul Valpincon. The artist regularly spent his summers here as a youth. In later years he would paint family portraits here as well as interior shots of the different rooms in this large house. In Billiard Room he tested his knowledge of angles in spaces and also horizontal and perpendicular lines. This was a grand room with the pool table being the focal point. Along one wall was a large bench for seating, what looks like a fireplace was at the head of the pool table and large canvases of fine art hung on each wall in the room.
