Hill Thomas - Yosemite Valley El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Yosemite Valley El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls by Thomas Hill for sale by Brandywine General Store. This large canvas measures 88 by 72 inches and is now hanging in the Oakland Museum of California at the bequest of Dr. Cecil E. Nixon. The Yosemite Valley was the third such area in the United States to be designated by the Federal Government as a Park. The first two areas were Yellowstone and Sequoia. In this oil on canvas, Hill shows a group of Indians at the base of El Capital. The man is on a horse bringing in pelts and furs and what looks like more sticks for another teepee. The women are at the teepees perhaps cooking the days meal. El Capitan is shrouded in a bright misty ethereal light, with the Bridal Veil Falls tumbling down the side creating yet more mists.
