Hunter, Clementine - The Wash Naive Art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of The Wash by Clementine Hunter for sale by Brandywine General Store. This naive art painting was completed by Hunter sometime in the 1950s. It shows an every day scene of plantation life, or a scene from any country home of the day before the invention of washing machines. Water would have to be drawn from the creek or well and boiled in an iron pot as the woman in the middle is doing. The clothes then had to be scrubbed by hand on a wash board as the other two women are doing. A few trees dot the landscape and Africa House from the plantation is shown in the background.
