The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1875. The size of the original artwork is 73 by 58 centimeters and now hangs in the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston being gifted to this institution by Audrey Jones Beck. Pissarro visited his painter friend, Piette Montfoucault on his estate at Montfoucault in Mayenne Eastern Brittany. Pissarro visited here in the mid 1870s and painted a series of paintings of the immediate surroundings and people of this estate in the countryside.
