Pissarro Camille - The Pont - Neuf Art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of The Pont - Neuf by Camille Pissarro for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1901 with the original measuring 29 by 36 inches and now hangs in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. When Pissarro became troubled with eye infections he was told by his Doctors to avoid, dust wind and bright sunlight. He then took to painting city scenes of Paris from various apartments throughout the city. In November 1900 he rented rooms on the Ile de la Cite, from which he painted several versions of the busy Pont - Neuf. The massive bridge slices diagonally through the scene carrying people, wagons and carriages over to the department stores of the right bank. The people are so thick you can't make out the individual faces but rather are just a mass of persons. The restless energy and dynamism of the city life was an appealing subject for the Impressionist artists. Famous artists print #135
