The scene is taken from the book of Genesis of the Bible. After God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, then saved his son from the sacrifice, Abraham decided that it was time to find a wife for Isaac. He sent a servant to his home town of Aram Naharaim to find a wife out of his own family rather than a woman from Canaan. The servant has been identified as Aram Naharaim. Abraham sent along many items intended for the bride's family if one was found, including expensive jewelry. The servant choose Rebecca from the towns eligible women because she showed him kindness and offered him water and also water for his camels. This scene in the picture shows the servant putting the expensive bracelet on Rebecca's arm to show that she was the intended bride for Isaac. Rebecca and Isaac went on to become the parents of twins Esau and Jacob who are famous in the Bible for Jacob deceiving his Father and stealing Esau's birthright and blessing. Rebecca and Isaac are one of four couples who are thought to have been buried in the Cave of the Patriarchs along with Adam and Eve, Isaac's parents Abraham and Sara as well as his son Jacob and Leah.
