This two room home was built by Vernon Presley, Elvis's Father, for 180.00, but the family only lived here for two years, which at that time, Presley lost this home and they moved next door. This small white frame home offers a unique look into the life of Elvis, from this humble beginning to what he later became, surrounded by mansions, hotel suites and limos. Also in Tupelo is the hardware store where Gladys Presley bought Elvis his first guitar in 1946 trying to divert his attention away from a .22 caliber rifle.
